Trump dá ultimato às Big Techs
O presidente dos Estados Unidos da América, Donald Trump, publicou em seu twitter um ultimato às Big Techs. Após sofrer censura por parte das plataformas em diversas oportunidades, Trump, ameaçou vetar a seção 230 caso essa atitude persista.
Recentemente, os senadores americanos, questionaram os CEOs do Twitter, Facebook e Goolgle sobre o viés anticonservador na seleção de conteúdos retirados das plataformas. O caso mais escancarado foi a matéria do New York Post sobre o material encontrado em um notebook que pertencia a Hunter Biden.
Basta dar uma olhada rápida no perfil do presidente no twitter, para notar que a maioria das postagens traz o aviso: “the claim about elections fraud is disputed” (a reclamação sobre fraude eleitoral é contestada).
De acordo com a seção 230, as plataformas de mídia social não podem ser responsabilizadas pelo conteúdo que os usuários postam. Essa proteção só acontece porque, teoricamente, as mídias sociais não atuam como editoras das postagens.
Xeque-mate! Caso as Big Techs continuem determinando quais opiniões podem ou não ser publicadas, perdem a proteção e passam a ser responsabilizadas por todo o conteúdo das plataformas. Caso queiram continuar com o benefício, terão que parar com a censura.
